    Process plant piping systems are typically designed, fabricated, installed, inspected, and tested in
    accordance with ASME B31.3, Process Piping.
    Unfortunately, piping systems cannot just be installed, placed into operation, and forgotten.
    • They must be periodically inspected to ensure that they have sufficient structural integrity
    and remain safe for continued operation.
    • Repairs may be necessary to correct deterioration.
    • Alterations are often required when physical changes must be made to a piping system.
    • It may be necessary to rerate systems to new design conditions.
    API 570, Piping Inspection Code, covers inspection, repair, alteration, and rerating procedures for
    metallic piping systems after they have been placed into service. This course provides an
    overview of API 570 requirements.
