That magic number, called the fine-structure constant, is a fundamental constant, with a value which nearly equals 1/137 or to be precise is currently calculated to be 1/137.035999206. It is denoted by the Greek letter alpha α.
In this book, the author presents a mathematical basis to calculate the fine-structure constant. He first designs a geometrical structure by using multiples of 8 raised to the powers of 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4. Next, he uses the geometrical structure and the alluring number 137 to write a mathematical formula to be able to calculate the value of the fine-structure constant. By using this approach, the geometrical determination of 1/α is calculated to be 137.0360354.
