The Mind is a Razorblade takes the familiar story of a man trying to recover his memory by leaving a trail of bodies behind him and guts it. The reader is right there with the protagonist, groping for details as we descend deeper and deeper into the twisted world that Max has created. Chapters are short and it moves at a breakneck pace during extended reading sessions I found myself repeating “Just five more minutes… just five more minutes… ” However, my favorite aspect of the novel is the humor sprinkled throughout. It keeps the mayhem flowing and serves as a beacon when things get pitch black.
