a reminder to everyone to digitize their books and upload them to library genesis: 1. all amazon ebooks can be drm stripped by being bought, downloaded through the old version of the kindle app so that it feeds you the file with the older copy protection, and then strip the drm in calibre. 2. iPhone can be used to digitize books by using the book degitization option embeded in the "notes" function. This does not give great results but i have done it and it is okay if there are no other options. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=10XH6VfGLqI 3. books can be digitized by having the spine cut and then feeding the book through a double sided scanner. this is good for books that are of low value that you don't want to resell or keep after digitizing. I do this for low value books that i neither want to keep, nor are worth selling, but even cheap books can become hard to find so it's a good idea to digitize them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_jL71Gvhjs 4. book scanning devices are becoming cheap and high quality. CZUR is churning out some good book scanners and their proprietary software can automatically flatten out pages giving great high quality scans fast. i haven't tried it yet but as of writing this there are some campaigns on indiegogo that look excellent. 5. Once the scans are made they should be uploaded to archive.org AND library genesis. archive.org is good because you can go through the uploaders profile and browse and find things that you didn't know existed - but the down side is that they DO delete books that infringe on copyright. Library genesis is bad in that it doesnt allow browsing of the uploader's collection but the main positive is that they don't take anything down - so if you are going to upload anywhere then here on library genesis should be the priority.
