Mr. Virendra Kumar took his Master's degree in Physics (Electronics) from Lucknow University in 1940 and received many awards for academic excellence. In 1943, he was selected to the Indian Civil Service (ICS) and was initially assigned to the Govt. of Bombay, now the State of Maharashtra. From 1954 until 1962, he was seconded to the Central Government, first as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting and later as Director General of All India Radio. After several other assignments with both the U.P. and the Central Government, he got retired in 1978. His last assignment was Chairman of U.P. Government Board of Revenue.
