Anyone who has an interest in the study of the Scriptures in early medieval Ireland is familiar with the name Bernhard Bischoff, which is mentioned several times in almost every contribution to this collection of articles. The works brought to light by Bischoff soon attracted the attention of scholars. But it was only in the 1980’s that the work of editing the manuscripts began seriously. In 1987, the Royal Irish Academy, the Irish Biblical Association, and the Brepols Publishing House initiated a joint project for the publication of the Bischoff texts in the series 'Corpus Christianorum'. In 1993, a conference was arranged in Maynooth for the purpose of bringing together the scholars who were preparing editions of Irish works, or works that show signs of Irish influence, with a view to giving these scholars an opportunity to share their insights and their common editorial problems. The papers delivered at the conference have been assembled and published in the work under review here.
