    Stabilität ist eine der wichtigsten Eigenschaften, die ein qualitativ einwandfreies Arzneimittel haben muss. Fragen der Haltbarkeit stellen sich jedoch nicht nur für Fertigarzneimittel und Magistralrezepturen, sondern auch für in der Apotheke gelagerte Ausgangsstoffe.

    Das Buch enthält die Verwendbarkeitsfristen von 2.156 Arzneistoffen, Hilfsstoffen, Drogen und Zubereitungen, innerhalb derer sie unter Einhaltung der vorgeschriebenen Lagerung zur Herstellung von Arzneimitteln eingesetzt werden können. Darunter sind auch Angaben zu 280 Drogen der Traditionellen Chinesischen Medizin (TCM). Außerdem werden Vorschläge zur Organisation und Dokumentation der Haltbarkeitskontrolle von Ausgangsstoffen sowie zur Ermittlung der Haltbarkeit von Rezepturarzneimitteln gemacht.
