Very few pilots in US military history have earned seven Distinguished Flying Crosses. Warrant Officer Terry Crump did in his one-year tour in Vietnam serving with the vaunted 361st Aerial Weapons Company –– the Pink Panthers. This book details many of his missions flying the deadly Cobra gunship helicopter in support of SOG, the so-called Studies and Observation Group. The Special Forces teams sent into Cambodia and Laos to gather intelligence, "snatch" prisoners, and interdict the Ho Chi Minh Trail were kept a closely guarded secret until 1995. The Pentagon destroyed SOG's photos and records after the war to maintain its secrecy. The Pink Panthers were the only all-Cobra unit and only helicopter unit dedicated to supporting SOG. Readers will find themselves in the cockpit firing rockets and mini-guns while Terry, as air mission commander, directs the air assets attempting to bring embattled SOG men out when completely surrounded by the enemy. The book includes the story of Terry's dad, a World War II fighter pilot, made famous through his pet coyote companion who flew in five combat missions in Operation Market Garden.
