Many football experts say the greatest game ever played took place in Green Bay, Wisconsin, on the last day of 1967. It pitted the Green Bay Packers against the Dallas Cowboys for the championship of the National Football League (NFL). The game went down in history as the Ice Bowl. It was brutally cold in Green Bay that day. At game time the temperature stood at –13 degrees Fahrenheit (–25 degrees Celsius). There was a wind of 15 miles (24 kilometers) per hour. The field was frozen. Just holding on to the ball was hard. Each team had three fumbles. Both teams could not gain much yardage passing or rushing. Players found themselves slipping.
