About the Author
Argyris G. Panaras, a resident of Greece, holds degrees from the Hellenic Air Force Academy and the National Technical University of Athens, as well as a doctorate from the Free University of Brussels following preparation of his thesis at the von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics. A founding member of the Hellenic Air Force Technology Research Center, Dr. Panaras has helped improve the accuracy of flow simulations for flight vehicles at extreme conditions, such as strongly separated flows due to high angle of attack or supersonic/hypersonic shock wave - boundary layer interactions. He is involved in AGARD/Fluid Dynamics Panel and RTO/Applied Vehicle Technology Panel activities, with original contributions to working groups related to high-alpha aerodynamics and to aerothermodynamics and development of CFD codes for hypersonic vehicles. His previous positions include extended visiting professorships at DLR/Goettingen and Cranfield University and work as an NRC/NASA Ames Senior Research Associate. An AIAA Associate Fellow, he has been awarded a Certificate of Recognition by NASA for the creative development of a technical innovation.
