Yoerae Kim began violin lessons at the age of four in South Korea. From 1999 to 2007, she studied as a young talent at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest with Prof. Andras Kiss and Prof. Miklos Szenthelyi. She earned her diploma in 2012 at the Mannheim University of Music under Prof. Roman Nodel.

Starting in 2012, she was a scholarship recipient and then member the first violins of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra under Mariss Jansons. In the 2017/18 season, she served as concertmaster at the Kassel State Theater. From 2018 to 2021, she focused on her solo and chamber music career, studying for the soloist diploma with Prof. Christian Ostertag at the Karlsruhe University of Music.

In 2018, she won a first prize at the Rainer Koch Memorial Prize competition for her interpretation of a work by Wolfgang Rihm. In 2019, she won a first prize with as part of the Trio Credo at the Dr. Hermann Buttner Piano Competition. In 2020, she was awarded the Karlsruhe University Prize.
