Magic Sound Poetry: On 22. June 2021 the Brazilian Hermeto Pascoal turns eighty – five years old, and even now the Fans of the "crazy Albino", as Miles Davis called him, have painted the date in their calendars red: because Hermeto has been one of the cult figures of avant-garde Jazz for many decades and despite his mature age is still as active as ever-a multifunctional Instrumentalist who knows how to use not only conventional sound devices such as flute, accordion, guitar and Keyboards, but also a teapot usable melodies elicited.

Just in time for his birthday, Det Norske Blåseensemble invited the German composer and saxophonist Steffen Schorn to transcribe a small, hand-picked selection of titles from the world of Hermeto Pascoal and record them with the versatile Norwegian wind players. The result is a new double-Album the double records, in which there is the musical Director of the project, as in his earlier "hermetic" production "Viva o som" with the Bigband of the Hessische Rundfunk excellent managed to capture a completely idiosyncratic, improvised music, capable of reproduction, fascinating lines.

Support Steffen Schorn by his colleague Roger Hanschel (he also once belonged to the "infamous" Cologne saxophone Mafia), and of the gifted percussionist Marcio Bahia, moving in and out of Hermeto's Universe as confidently as the virtuoso of the Norske Blåseensemble, the flute to the Piccolo down to the roaring Tubax no fear of contact know. Det Norske Blåseensemble or the Norwegian Wind Ensemble – was founded in 1734 in Halden, and is thus the oldest orchestra in Norway.

The twenty-four musicians can easily switch between different styles: by combining modern woodwinds and historical brass instruments, they have defined a unique sound with which they can realize music from the Renaissance and baroque to the first Viennese School.

"Surging and flowing melodies, concise impressions and revelries, intricate and very simple rhythms, the sound of bliss and Surprises characterize the two CDs. Schorn audibly makes it fun to make the sophisticated Arrangements sound loose and fragrant. Some songs that Hermeto Pascoal got to hear, he has added short own sprinkles via Overdub. As a result, in the collective improvisation "Risada de Felicidade", a prepared piano, steps and Pascoal's voice can also be heard. The Album is more than a usual homage.
