Rosalie Cunningham - Two Piece Puzzle (2022) [Official Digital Download]

After her acclaimed band Purson played their last concert at the end of 2016, British singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Rosalie Cunningham launched her solo career. After their self-named debut album from 2019, the successor will be released in 2022.

"Two Piece Puzzle" is the name of the twelve-song album for which she again worked with her musical partner Rosco Wilson. Cunningham about the collaboration: "With the limitations of the lockdown, it was not possible to work with a band, so Rosco and I started jamming my new songs at home with him on drums and me on vocals and rhythm guitar. I then refined the demos with a lot of lonely overdubs, but the basic framework came from the chemistry we had rhythmically when the songs were still so fresh. With no end to the pandemic in sight, the actual recording process seemed to take an eternity, but the research was worth it.«

The duality was also decisive for the title of the album, which, like its predecessor, is released by Cherry Red Records. The label writes about "Two Piece Puzzle": "The album is a fine work with different moods, which possesses the drama associated with Rosalie's music, but also demonstrates the development of her songwriting craft and her remarkable skills as a singer and musician.«

Musically, this becomes audible in a combination of progressive rock and psychedelic roots with influences from metal to jazz. There is a guest contribution on the album by Fairport Convention violinist Ric Sanders.
