The album, which is appropriately released during the Notodden Blues Festival on the first weekend in august, is her seventh. And she has spent longer than she usually does between releases.

"Going to the studio became more scary this time than before, because I had some expectations of myself – and had been gone for a long time.

"Sun Will Come" is filled with her own songs, written over a couple of years in which she consciously and unconsciously tried to move her own, musical boundaries. She also chose an unconventional guy in the Blues World, Christian Engfelt, to mix the record.

- I wanted a new producer who had not known me "in all years", to look at what I came up with. It was an exciting journey. Because now it is not so polished anymore, says Rita Engedalen.
Never taught

Often called "the definitive Norwegian Blues queen", she has won one spell caster, been nominated for two more, and won the festival's own Blues Award. She has been playing with her band for 25 years, where Morten Omlid and Eskild Aasland have now been joined by Bård Gunnar Moe on the nye record.

25 years is a long time. Nye is still not trained – and new things are emerging and pulsating in me, both as a blues singer and songwriter. The music industry is constantly changing. But what never changes is that it's still just as delicious to play in front of the audience.

This time she offers music in the range from the Southern blues landscape where she has a special love for the rhythmic Hill country Blues, via gospel, roots and folk to stripped-down acoustic and driving rock. She explains it by the fact that" life goes on", where she listens a lot to different music, and thinks differently when it came to events.
