From 1989 to 1999 Pavement shaped indie and alternative rock like hardly any other band. They released five albums during this time, but then the US band broke up.
in 2022, the Matador label now takes a look back and one behind the scenes: with the double CD and the 4-LP set "Terror Twilight Farewell Horizontal".
It is a comprehensive collection of 45 tracks. In addition to the remastered original 1999 album "Terror Twilight," B-sides, home demos, rehearsal room tapes, live recordings and even the raw tracks from Pavement's aborted session at Sonic Youth's Echo Canyon studio await. 28 of these tracks have never been released before.
The "Terror Twilight" LP comes with the song order suggested by producer Nigel Godrich (Radiohead, Beck), which puts the most important album tracks up front. The track listing of the CD remains with the original order that the band established.
Both the CD and vinyl editions of "Terror Twilight Farewell Horizontal" also include a book with rare photos and comments by band members Mark Ibold, Stephen Malkmus, Bob Nastanovich, Spiral Stairs and Steve West, as well as producer Godrich.
PS: As if "Terror Twilight Farewell Horizontal" wasn't reason enough to rejoice, Pavement have announced a couple of reunion concerts for 2022.
