    Der zweite Band der Reihe »Doktor Lichtenthals Mozart« des Pandolfis Consort auf historischen Instrumenten präsentiert Sinfonien von W. A. Mozart in kammermusikalischen Bearbeitungen. Peter Lichtenthal, 1779 als Wolfgang Mayer in Preßburg geboren, war nicht nur Arzt, sondern auch Komponist und Autor, u. a. zweier Mozart-Biografien, denen durch seine Bekanntschaft mit Constanze Mozart und den beiden Söhnen Carl und Franz eine hohe Authentizität zugeschrieben werden kann. Als großer Bewunderer des Genies Mozart schuf er zahlreiche Transkriptionen von Mozarts Werken, um sie in einem kleinen privaten Rahmen aufführbar zu machen. Im vorliegenden Fall sind die Sinfonien Nr. 40 g-moll, KV 550, und »Jupiter« Nr. 41 C-Dur, KV 551, für Streichquintett gesetzt.
