Open mics may not always have a good reputation, but for Merlin Hydes it has brought something good. Firstly, he met his producer Jon Kenzie, who organizes "Bring Your Own Song" in Hamburg, and secondly, the open mic brought him into contact with DevilDuck Records, who are good friends with Jon Kenzie and advised him to take a look at the boy. A few months later, the debut album "In Plain Sight" was recorded in just three days in Kenzie's home studio and is now ready to conquer the world… or at least a small part of it.

The idea was to simply record the songs in a cozy and simple environment, like in the good old days, without thinking too much about it and without any perfectionism. "In Plain Sight" describes the balancing act between the quiet country life, the desire for a farm and garden and the supposedly exciting and urban city, where you always feel a bit alien and have chicken shit under your shoes", as Hydes explains…
