Often referred to as one of the leading figures of the Czech jazz scene, David Dorůžka has been an active professional musician since he was fourteen years old and has performed all over the world, collaborated with a number of world names and spent long-term stays in the metropolises of New York and Paris.
After working with Lizz Wright, Jeff Ballard or Hilmar Jensson, Dorůžka returns to the line-up with Czech musicians - in a new project with flutist Robert Fischmann and drummer Martin Novák, these three musicians follow Dorůžka's award-winning album Autumn Tales from 2016 and embark on developing music based on the Jewish traditions of Europe and the Middle East. But they work with older and newer musical material with extraordinary freedom, so it easily happens that traditional Hasidic chants alternate with metalcore passages in an instant, and we can hear melodies from medieval Spain side by side with inspirations from the New York downtown scene.
