    Beethoven's music will be honoured in 2020 with countless new recordings of his works, ceremonies and cultural events of all kinds. So why another Beethoven Album?

    With all the respect and reverence we have for Beethoven as one of the greatest musicians of all time, it is often forgotten that, in addition to his extraordinary talent as a composer, Pianist and conductor, he was also a genius for improvisation. During his performances, he delighted the Viennese audience with spontaneous, witty and often debauched piano improvisations, not only in cadenzas within his piano concertos, but also in the musical "preparation" of the audience for subsequent compositions, the so-called preluding.

    In this spirit, pianist Laurens Patzlaff presents his new album IMPROVISATIONS on BEETHOVEN. Inspired by well-known themes of the master, he unfolds a musical firework full of contrasts that captivates his listeners through spontaneity as well as through genius. The beautiful recording is aimed at a wide audience. For the general classical fan, it will be an experience and offer him interesting perspectives on Beethoven's well-known music. The expert will also appreciate the ingenious finesse of Patzlaff's improvisations and interpretations.
