This autumn, two music legends shared the stage: John Williams conducted the Berliner Philharmoniker for the first time. This historic debut was recorded live by Deutsche Grammophon in a series of sold-out concerts and will be released on February 4, 2022 in various physical and digital audio and audiovisual products that impressively reflect the intensity and enthusiasm of this special evening. The album “John Williams - The Berlin Concert" presents some of the most famous film scores in the interpretation of one of the largest orchestras in the world.
Before the album is released on the occasion of John Williams' 90th birthday on February 8, fans of the composer are already getting an exclusive foretaste: the concert can be seen on DG Stage until January 9, including all tracks and encores, which are personally moderated by John Williams. At the opening of the concert, John Williams also expressed his joy about the collaboration: “To stand in front of this orchestra and in this hall in front of you is a great honor and a privilege for every musician”. A feeling that was based on reciprocity, after all, such cinema classics as “Star Wars”, “Indiana Jones” or “Jurassic Parc” are inextricably linked with William's music. Also less well-known, but nevertheless equally brilliant pieces such as the suite from “Far and Away” were performed at this concert.
