The Norwegian Army Band, under the direction of conductor Trond Husebo, welcomes you to the world premiere of a musical masterpiece about the Armed Forces ' highest award – The War Cross.

The war Cross is a full-length work that portrays the Armed Forces ' highest award and many of the events that form the basis of the decoration throughout the ages. The work consists of 30 movements, written for various crews in the Army music Corps, from soloist movements to large orchestral movements where the entire ensemble gets to shine.

The work was commissioned for the Norwegian Armed Forces and written by the composer Marcus Paus. The work describes Norway's highest award and many of the stories behind it. Three of the movements are dedicated to the Battle of Narvik 1940, from which most of the war cross honours are given. The work also addresses individual events based on the people who have been awarded the award.

The desire and need to be able to recognize special efforts has existed throughout our era. The armed forces keep these traditions alive through ceremonies and awards. Through the music in this work, we get an emotional experience of the values and actions that underlie the people who have been decorated with the medal. The work honors those who have sacrificed, and those who sacrificed everything.

With Krigskorset Marcus Paus has made a very unique and extensive contribution to the history of Norwegian music. The work is unique in its form and in its scope and is also important as an original written Norwegian work for Wind Orchestra.
