Philip Glass has created a style that is often imitated but he remains the preeminent exponent of this art. His unique success is largely down to his rigorous training with the great teacher Nadia Boulanger in Paris and his work with the great Indian Classical musician Ravi Shankar combined with an incredible work ethic that has seen him create hundreds of compositions over the last 60 years or so. He has the uncanny ability to create music that is both initially enjoyable and increasingly rewarding with repeated listening as the music reveals hidden depths below a seemingly simple repetitive surface.”
