The Faces (Russian Faces; from English - "Faces") - British rock band, formed in 1969 by three members of The Small Faces (Ronnie Lane, Kenny Jones, Ian McLagan), who replaced the departed Steve Marriott invited Rod Stewart and Ron Wood from The Jeff Beck Group.

The Faces performed hard, chaotic, but generally upbeat rock and roll (with elements of hard rock and rhythm and blues), dominated by Stewart's vocals. Subsequently, many punk rockers (in particular, members of The Sex Pistols) mentioned The Faces among their "major influences". Jeff Tweedy (Wilco) called them "the forerunners of punk rock".

The commercial rise of The Faces in 1971-1972 is associated with the singles "Stay with Me" (#6 in the UK), "Cindy Incidentally" (#2) and "Pool Hall Richard" (#8). The group broke up as soon as it became clear that its vocalist was turning into a superstar. Wood moved to The Rolling Stones, Jones (later) to The Who, McLagan became an established session musician. And Ronnie Lane pursued a solo career until his death in 1997.

In November 2009, The Faces announced their intention to return to the stage and tour in 2010, regardless of whether Rod Stewart could take part in it . Subsequently, Stewart was replaced by former Simply Red vocalist and leader Mick Hucknall, and former Sex Pistols member Glen Matlock played bass instead of Ronnie Lane.
