I've always liked the idea of releasing music that has just been composed. I know well that this goes against the core principles of publishing new music: releasing material that has just been recorded leaves little time to promote it properly.
On the other side, however, is that taking the time to promote a work before it is released risks distancing those who will listen to that music from the creative moment that generated it. Over the years, I've always tried to bridge the gap as much as possible between the 'creative flame' and the work to be published, to the point that now, when it comes to solo piano, I almost exclusively release the 'first' recording of an idea, of an intuition. I rarely rework it, and I rarely use the typical 'tricks' of those who do this job. What you hear is what came to me while I was sitting at the piano—with all that this entails, including the inevitable imperfections that a 'first take' can bring.

With 'Summer Stories,' I took a further step in this direction, adopting the same compositional and recording technique ('first take') and adding the chronological proximity to when these pieces were composed.

This collection, in fact, consists of 'moments,' creative sparks throughout the summer of 2024. Yes, the very summer that today (September 12, editor’s note) seems to have given way to autumn.

What I find interesting about this collection is the narrative thread: explorations for piano, synthesizers, modular systems, effects, echoes, tapes, and everything my summer experimentation brought. Inspiration is freer when there are no imminent recording projects, allowing you to dare and combine the proverbial unpredictability of a modular system with piano composition, in my case more regular and 'reassuring.' There are also purely synthetic moments: ideas and inspirations born in front of a synthesizer, far from my natural habitat, the piano bench.

Many of these moments are 'filmed,' that is, they have been posted regularly on my Instagram channel, in an attempt to make my limping social media presence a bit more active.

The idea of this album, consisting of 14 brushstrokes of color recorded on warm summer mornings, is to bring listeners even closer to my feelings, to my being a composer at this moment. I really hope that through this kind of 'experiment,' listeners will discover creative moments in my production that may in turn inspire them in their daily activities.
