Chet Atkins Goes to the Movies is the forty-seventh studio album by guitarist Chet Atkins, released in 1975. Chet won the 1976 Best Country Instrumental Performance Grammy for "The Entertainer". He and Jerry Reed were also nominated that year for their performance of "Colonel Bogey".

Chester Burton ‘Chet’ Atkins (1924-2001) was an American country guitarist and record producer. He was also known as ‘Mister Guitar’ and ‘The Country Gentleman’. His virtuoso style was inspired by Arnold Schultz, Merle Travis, Django Reinhardt, George Barnes and Les Paul. It brought him admirers from all genres of music.

Initially, he played the ukulele. His brothers Lowell and Jim, who both played guitar, persuaded him to try his hand at fiddling. Later, he traded in his guitar for an old pistol and started practising on this instrument. His role model was Merle Travis, and he tried to emulate his finger technique and rolling style.

Atkins produced records for Eddy Arnold, Don Gibson, Jim Reeves, Ann-Margret, Bobby Bare, Connie Smith and Waylon Jennings, to name a few. Atkins, along with Owen Bradley, created the softer style of country music known as the Nashville Sound, which expanded country music's TYPOS appeal to include adult fans of popular music.
