Bernhard Scully maintains an active international career as a horn soloist and pedagogue. He is currently the Professor of Horn at the University of Illinois at Urbana – Champaign. He is the Artistic Director of Cormont Music and the Kendall Betts Horn Camp. In the summer he performs with his colleagues in the North Country Chamber Players. He was the longtime horn player of Canadian Brass and principal horn of the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra. His solo and teaching career has taken him to five continents and over thirty countries, having collaborated with many of the worlds’ most acclaimed ensembles. He has many solo recordings to his credit and has been the recipient of numerous awards, including being a recipient of a McKnight Fellowship. His book, Consilience: Learning About Ourselves By Applying Indigenous Knowledge to Western Music and Technology is published by Springer-Nature. His degrees are from Northwestern University where he studied with Gail Williams, and the University of Wisconsin – Madison where he studied with Douglas Hill and received the Distinguished Alumni Award for Excellence in Artistry. He resides in Urbana IL, with his wife Sarah, their three daughters (Eleanor, Abigail, and Madeline), their Springer Spaniel, and two cats.
