Bilbao is not only the capital of the Spanish province of Bizkaia, but also one of the most interesting new indie bands from Germany. All four members are no strangers to the scene: singer Léons' solo project is called Lemony Rug, guitarist Robin is known from the bands Pigments or Solid Boi, drummer Jan from the indie combo Monako and bassist Jannes as a rapper under the name Jomo.

After the quartet from Hamburg, meanwhile signed to the label Pias, already released a joint EP titled "Isola" last year, they will be launching their first album in the summer of 2022: "Shake Well".

With "Parasols," "Wild At Heart" and "Get Up!" Bilbao already presented three songs from the ten-song record in total, which make the wide range of their influences audible. "Musically, we like to mix different genres. Sure, we're primarily an indie-pop band, but with a lot of sampling in all of our songs, hip-hop is definitely one of the big influences in our music," the band says.

By the way, on their Bandcamp page they describe themselves as follows: "Bilbao is the new drink on the menu of your favorite bar! The best shakers in town mix you the frozen margarita of tropical pop on the fly. This homebrew liquor of honest indie music and urban sample aesthetics goes down like the lowest frequencies of analog 808 synths." How fitting that they christened their first album "Shake Well."
