After a first album devoted to early English music, Les inAttendus tackle Bach’s magnum opus: The Art of Fugue. And it is as poets of sound that they do so. Through the very particular colors and the “unexpected” combination of accordion, bass viol and baroque violin, they emphasize the masterly beauty and depth of this score.

A lively interest in new works, a marked taste for performing them, an attentive ear and an in-depth approach to sounds were the shared traits that led Marianne Muller and Vincent Lhermet to start exploring the early music repertoire together. With the accordion invited to cast a modern perspective onto the world of the viola da gamba, they are now investigating together contemporary repertoires in which their combined instruments have enabled them to mine a thrilling wealth of sounds.

In spite of their vastly different ages and pedigrees, the unexpected marriage of bass viola da gamba and accordion is a fluent and easy partnership, leading to many pleasant discoveries and delightful surprises.
