Black & White Night, the live album, was compiled and released posthumously from the television special. The album was released in February 1989 and included the songs “Blue Bayou” and “Claudette” that were cut from the original broadcast for time. However it did not include the song “Blue Angel” which was cut from the original broadcast for the same reason.

Known for his musical versatility, bassist Dezron Douglas is one of the most in demand young bassists in jazz today. Composer, bandleader, sideman and educator, Dezron has established himself as a musician's musician, respected not only for his talent but also for his dedication to the authenticity of the music. On this album, Dezron is joined by Cyrus Chestnut on piano and Lewis Nash on drums for an album of tunes including "Minority", "Stay On it" and "Walkin' My Baby Back Home".

The debut album from countertenor Jakub Józef Orliński – born in Warsaw, trained at New York’s Juilliard School, and 2016 winner of the Metropolitan Opera's prestigious National Council Auditions – Anima sacra features what are believed to be world premiere recordings of eight Baroque arias, notably by composers of the Neapolitan school. Orliński is partnered by Il pomo d’oro conducted by Maxim Emelyanychev.

Josquin des Prez was unquestionably one of the greatest composers of Renaissance Europe. His works generally fall into one of three principal categories: motets, masses, and chansons. While his masses and chansons are consistently remarkable, it was in his motets that Josquin gave full reign to his creativity. This release featuring Daniel Reuss and Cappella Amsterdam offers a selection of Josquin's secular homages and sacred polyphony, focusing on the title work, a setting of the Miserere, which became a model for many composers that followed. This is the first of three albums from Cappella Amsterdam devoted to Franco-Flemish masters of the Renaissance.

Joseph Haydn spent much of his career as kapellmeister for the wealthy Esterházy family at their remote estate in Hungary. This isolated him from other composers and trends in music to such an extent that Haydn said it, "forced him to become original." He wrote many works specifically for the Esterházy orchestra, including the three concertos featured here. The Violin Concertos Nos. 1 and 4 were written for Luigi Tomasini, the orchestra's concertmaster, while the Cello Concerto No.1 was composed Joseph Franz Weigl, its principal cellist. It is fitting then that the principal players of Gli incogniti, leader Amandine Beyer and principal cellist Marco Ceccato, take the starring roles on this delightful recording of three Haydn masterworks.

Although he resides in the automotive capital of Flint, MI, vocalist/guitarist Whitey Morgan (real name Eric Allen) is a country boy through and through – and one particularly beholden to Waylon Jennings and his fellow outlaw country posse – David Allan Coe, Willie Nelson, Billy Joe Shaver, and Ray Wylie Hubbard, as well as country traditionalists Merle Haggard and Johnny Cash. In 2005, Morgan began assembling a group of sympathetic Motor City musicians to become his 78's, these being guitarists Jeremy "Leroy" Biltz and Benny James, bassist Jeremy Mackinder, and drummer Mike "Pops" Popovich.

As the last completed symphony that Mahler wrote, the Ninth has often been heard by audiences as the composer’s swan song: a nostalgic, moving farewell from a composer conscious of his own mortality. This interpretation is of course easily justifiable, as etched into the musical fabric of the symphony are references to the tragedies that befell the composer in the years before his death. Furthermore, it is wholly plausible that for a man as melodramatic as Mahler, the idea of a symphony that centres around themes of loss and finality would surely have been an appealing prospect.

"Puccini In Love" is the first album by the award winning operatic tenor superstar Roberto Alagna and his wife, soprano Aleksandra Kurzak. Together they are the golden couple of the opera world. The album features some of Puccini’s greatest love duets including Madama Butterfly, La Bohème, Manon Lescaut as well as lesser known duets including Il Tabarro and La Rondine. Puccini in Love showcases some of Puccini’s most emotional and passionate operatic work.

Opener “Missing U” sets the mood, with wistful lines about stopped clocks and empty spaces left behind. Yet it’s somehow one of Honey’s more upbeat tracks, with an insistent rhythm and glittery arpeggios that recall the brightest moments of 2010’s Body Talk.

Ian Sweet, aka Jillian Medford, has announced her second album. ‘Crush Crusher’, the follow-up to 2016’s ‘Shapeshifter’, gets a released on October 26 through Hardly Art, home to the likes of Chastity Belt, the Julie Ruin, Protomartyr et al. The lead single, Hiding, starts off intimately with reverb-heavy vocals, before a tidal wave of guitars and percussion takes over. With a solid rhythm in the later verses, it's a well-balanced song that deserves repeated listens.
