At 38 years old, Josh Smith is already a long time veteran of the Music/Blues scene. His new album “Burn To Grow” is his tenth studio release. His first album was released as a 14 year old kid back in South Florida almost 25 years ago. After pursuing blues full-time from age 13-22 and touring the US to support his efforts, Josh moved to Los Angeles in 2002. There he made a name for himself as a session guitarist, sideman and producer. At the same time he continued to release self produced albums showing the growth and wealth of new influences he was acquiring from his work.

There, beginning in 1966, he studied piano with Mieczyslaw Munz at the Juilliard School of Music. He made a concert tour of South America in 1969; in the year that followed he completed a bachelor's degree in French at Columbia University and became an American citizen.

After sharing the stage with with artists including Smokey Robinson, Gino Vanelli, Bobby Caldwell, Gino Vannelli, Jeff Lorber, two time Grammy Winner Diane Schuur , Jack Black, Don Felder, Orianthi, Richie Sambora, and most recently Marc Broussard, saxophonist to the stars Patrick Lamb now releases a solo album “Soul Ties” his own release on his own label.

It was in 2007 at the Mandolin Symposium in Santa Cruz, California that we first met. We had known about each other, had each other's recordings and admired each other's playing, but we had not yet met formally. On our first recording, we were simply trying to find common musical ground with an appreciation for Bach, Brazilian, Bulgarian and Bluegrass music. Our second CD dove into the heart of our favorite composer Johann Sebastian Bach. Third Journey represents the natural settling that has occurred after years of playing and sharing a life together with the bulk of the material culled from mostly American musical forays with a bit of Bach and Brazil tossed in just because we couldn't help ourselves.

The second volume of Essential Elvis offers Elvis in binaural stereo from the January 1957 sessions that produced several hits. (RCA Victor generously filled the disc out with mono masters of the remaining songs to give the consumer a complete version of the sessions.) This is a lot of fun; the gaffes are numerous, obvious, and hilarious, and for ears raised on multi-track recording, it must be amazing to hear an entire record recorded live in the studio!
