Welcome to the Underrated Genius of Thomas Dolby.

"Aliens ate my Buick" is a classic. Some people didn't buy this thinking that it was a soundtrack for a movie! This is where all of his efforts came together and he batted a Grand Slam. Worthy mention is Terry Jackson (RIP), an awesome bass player who made the group sound incredible.

Welcome to the Underrated Genius of Thomas Dolby.

The 2nd CD sounds as if it was released with the Record Company rushing him to release it. It's very hectic and way more serious than the 1st one. Still good , but something is missing…

Welcome to one of the most exciting yet underrated bands of the early 1970s.
Ollie Hallsall is a guitar genius. ALthough a multi instrumentalist, his fluid guitar work , which plays "saxophone solos" instead of your clichéd guitar licks will blow you away.

Welcome to one of the most exciting yet underrated bands of the early 1970s.
Ollie Hallsall is a guitar genius. ALthough a multi instrumentalist, his fluid guitar work , which plays "saxophone solos" instead of your clichéd guitar licks will blow you away. In this one Ollie, the Pisces that he was, plays mostly piano…
But the solo in the 1st Punk song ever "Loud Green Song", is worth the price…

In this one , they let their hair down. It shows them more like they REALLY were onstage: a bunch of "Looners"

Genre: 80s Synth Pop | Source: CD | Label: EMI America

Welcome to the Underrated Genius of Thomas Dolby.

This 4th CD finds Mr. Dolby in a very sombre mood because of the loss of his great bass player (anyway, what the hell was Terry doin' touring with…Reba McIntire???? Didn't he know that Country Music is the music that leads to most suicides? We miss him, though). It is still a very interesting CD and also has the collaboration of another departed artist; Ofra Haza. Not quite being dead , but more or less zombie, there's also a solo from Eddie Van Halen.

Debussy in Surround, 1970's style (i.e., QUAD) recorded in France , interpreted by a French Orchestra and conducted by the late great Jean Martinon (yes, French).
La Mer, Nocturnes and the rest come alive in 3-D sound!

Another great surround mix from the EMI engineers.
This was a lucky find since EMI did not release these Quad recordings on CD, but , they did license it to Disky.

Genre: Classical | Source: SQ encoded CD | Label: CBS

This Quad mix is more "open" than the EMI ones, the instruments are easier to localize. It seems that Good ole' Igor actually composed this to have a surround feast happening
in front of him (or the conductor).Another 1970's, this time, late 70's SQ encoded LP master from a 1987 cd issue. As with the EMI people, these guys' definition of the SPARS code was quite dubious to say the least. The middle initial stands for MIXDOWN, which they didn't, unless they used the SQ encoders from then…but- their sloppiness is our advantage….

Santana's first album, which was released in 1969 and remixed into Quad in 1974 is another winner. Just having "Soul Sacrifice" in Hi Def Multichannel is a feast. Also, an alternate mix of "Evil Ways" with a real ending, not a fade out.As with all Santana releases, the percussion makes this a wonderful Surround experience.Brought to you in Separate files, in BOTH:Hi Resolution DVD-Audio (ONLY-no Dolby or DTS DVD);
and for those without DVD-A players, a DTS CD 44.1/16 version.

A STUNNING SQ field on this mix. These engineers really knew how to do their stuff.
The Von Karajan sessions were legendary because the Maestro himself used to assist and produce these Quadraphonic mixdowns-he was VERY MUCH into Multichannel.
