Sung-Won Yang, London Symphony Orchestra, Hans Graf, Emmanuel Strosser - Echoes of Romance: Schumann & Brahms (2024) [24/96]

Cellist Yang Sung-won released his ninth album "Echo of Romance" produced by classical label DECCA on the 29th May. According to Universal Music, the album includes the Schumann Cello Concerto, Clara Schumann's three romances Op.22 and Brahms' clarinet trio in a minor Op.114th place was included. A Universal Music official said, "These are works that allow you to read the intense artistic collaboration between Schumann, Clara Schumann, and Brahms."

The recording performance was performed by the London Symphony Orchestra conducted by Hans Graff, pianist Emanuel St, and clarinetist Kim Han. The recordings were made at St. Luke's in London in the spring of 2022 and at the Salé Colonne Theatre in Paris last fall. Producer Michael Pine and director Tone Meister Choi Jin collaborated.

In particular, regarding the London recording, which took place during the COVID-19 pandemic, Yang Seong-won said, "The schedule changed three times, and just before the recording, I was infected with COVID-19 and almost failed. I can't believe the album came out," he said. He said, "It was a tight schedule, and thanks to my long partnership with Choi, the sound was all left alone and I was able to focus only on playing."

Yang Sung-won plays the cello on the world stage and is also the artistic director of the Pyeongchang Daegwallyeong International Music Festival, Bonn Beethoven Festival in France, and the trio One. As a professor of music at Yonsei University and a visiting professor at the London Royal Academy of Music (RAM), he is also striving to cultivate the younger students. His debut album, previously released by EMI, was selected by the British Gramophone magazine Editors' Choice and Critics' Choice. He has won awards at home and abroad, including the French government's Order of Culture and Arts Merit Chevalier (Kisei President), the Daewon Music Performance Award, and the Audience Artist Award.
