"Brass Bang" is the musical formula implying insanely talented musicians, humor and creativity. This album captures the mind of wind instruments. This album gathers eclectic composers such as Rolling Stones, Haendel, Jimi Hendrix, Duke Ellington and compositions of their own.
Italian trumpeter Paolo Fresu has never shied away from expanding the vocabulary of jazz. Unusual concepts, avant-garde soundscapes and non-standard instrumental combos are challenges he takes on with relish. Brass Bang! is the fruit of Fresu's live encounters with trumpeter Steven Bernstein's ensemble Sex Mob, trombonist Gianluca Petrella's Cosmic Band and Marcus Rojas, who is considered one of the world's finest tuba players. The resulting album presents a little-big brass band with great soloists and an incredible universe of poetry, humor, sweeping rhythms and above all, fun.
