"Song for Everyone", is an album by Indian violinist L. Shankar, featuring Jan Garbarek, Zakir Hussain and Trilok Gurtu. It was released on the ECM label in 1985.
The Allmusic review by Richard S. Ginell awards the album 4 stars and states: this album is a brighter, more outgoing record than its predecessor Vision, veering between Western acoustic and electric grooves and the complex beats churned out by the tabla. Jan Garbarek again shines beams of light on soprano and tenor, engaging Shankar's ten-string double-necked electric violin in some complex interplay on the title track.

"Enjoy this album with passionate and intense music that stays with you; the n.m. US pressing is excellent (recorded by ECM)"

    Review:

Whether this album is as good as I think it is or just touches me in some way, it's hard to know. You'll just have to get it and listen for yourself. I remember hearing it in the 1980s and couldn't find out which album it was; only now have I managed to get hold of a copy. A prototype of "world music," it's laceratingly beautiful and hypnotic. Shankar's string playing is supremely evocative, mystical whilst not being New Agey, and Jan Garbarek's lyrical sax is serene and haunting. The title track is a master work, and the whole album gets better the more you listen to it.
