Savoy Brown - Getting To The Point (Decca 1968) 24-bit/96kHz Vinyl Rip

Part of the late-'60s blues-rock movement, Britain's Savoy Brown never achieved as much success in their homeland as they did in America, where they promoted their albums with non-stop touring. The band was formed and led by guitarist Kim Simmonds, whose dominating personality has led to myriad personnel changes.

As a blues band, Savoy Brown was at its creative peak in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Of the albums from that period, ‘Getting To The Point’ is probably the most overlooked and under-rated.
The album opens and closes with pure blues that sandwich an eclectic mixture of rock, boogie, and blues between. When Chris Youlden starts to sing, you know you are in for a treat. Bob Hall's rollicking piano really sets this LP apart from other Savoy Brown recordings. And, of course, there is the intrepid Kim Simmonds just ripping it up on lead guitar.
