    Alfred "Pee Wee" Ellis is an American saxophonist, composer and arranger. He was an important member of James Brown's band in the 1960s, appearing on many of Brown's most notable recordings and co-writing hits like "Cold Sweat" and "Say It Loud - I'm Black and I'm Proud". He also worked closely with Van Morrison. His new album "In My Ellingtonian Mood" features amazing chemistry with N.Y.C.-based jazz pianist Danny Grissett.

    A warm melodic saxophone sound, rich in energy and a great appreciation for the milestones of jazz history - the American musician Pee Wee Ellis offers with his current project "In my Ellingtonian Mood" a beautiful-atmospheric example of the timelessness of this music. But while The "Duke" with his formative music mostly in the presented opulent sound of the big band, Pee Wee Ellis reduced to his homage to the great pianist of jazz the cast on an intimate duo: with the pianist Danny Grissett he is shocked there his own Ellington sound universe. And last but not least, it sparkles there is always irrepressible radio through. For no lesser as James Brown, the "Godfather of Soul", and whose band acted Pee Wee Ellis once as music director, wrote a variety pieces for the ensemble and thus made a significant contribution. Contribution to the legendary sound of soul and funk.
