10 years ago, on a rainy autumn evening the idea of the trio was born. It was simply because we wanted to play together and discover the new music as a permanent ensemble. As a result of this nocturnal contemplation, after a short while the NYX TRIO was created, and we are truly happy the stars aligned in that moment so this idea could not only appear, but also materialize and grow.

Over these ten years we have discovered, studied and in one or another way brought to the listener just about everything that Latvian composers have created for our blend of instruments, including new pieces that have been dedicated to us or at least composed with us in mind. This music is special, personal, and very, very diverse – just like the times we are living in.

We would like to thank all the brilliant creative minds with whom we have had the honour to collaborate with over these ten years. This recording is essentially a highly personal story about us, the NYX TRIO, and our shared journey in music. We hope that this beautiful Latvian music will be heard and performed in the concert halls, and even more importantly, in the classrooms of music schools, for a long time to come.
