Navona Records is pleased to present ARISE & SHINE, an album of piano music by Black composers for kids, and the first installment two-album series led by pianist and Yamaha Artist Leah Claiborne. Recorded at the Yamaha Artist Studio in New York City, produced by Claiborne and Ben Raznick, and released by PARMA Recordings, this landmark project highlights the impact of Black artists on contemporary classical music.
ARISE & SHINE unites 10 leading Black classical pianists to perform celebrated works by some of the past century’s most influential Black composers, including powerful contributions from living composers. More than a collection, this is a vibrant, living archive — honoring heritage, inspiring the next generation, and preserving the sacred tradition of classical piano.
