Major Harris III was an American R&B singer, associated with the Philadelphia soul sound and the Delfonics (early 1970s–1974). After left the Delfonics Major Harris have some commercial success as a solo artist.
The Jerry Ragavoy-produced How Do You Take Your Love represents a marked shift away from the shimmering Philly soul sensibility of Major Harris' Atlantic efforts, favoring smooth jazz arrangements that underscore the singer's gifts as a balladeer. Despite a few up-tempo, disco-inspired tracks, including the ten-minute epic "I Want to Dance with You," the majority of the record favors slower, more romantic arrangements that showcase the depth and intimacy of Harris' vocals. As a love man he puts the likes of Barry White and Luther Vandross to shame, articulating the intricacies of romance with style and authority.
