Before I utter one more word, I need to say, do NOT buy this reissue! It's all over Ebay so I bought one. No one will take credit for pressing it and it's no wonder why. My ears tell me they used the original analog master but totally blew the transfer. It's so quiet that some spots have as much "diamond/wax" sound as music. And the vinyl itself is full of divots, pits and even creases. In short, it's a crap pressing.
I sent mine back for a full refund but not before ripping a copy. Unfortunately my Dynaco tube preamp was down at the time so this was ripped with my Nikko Beta III soild state pre. This is the right channel panned to center. It has a bit more surface noise but the highs are much cleaner than the "folded" test I did.

About the Mono mix. I'm not aware of any song being ten seconds longer or having a different chorus. If you listen close you can hear all the same instruments as the stereo but, there's no denying that the Mono mix has "Punch". I have two Mono CD's (Castle and Sanctuary) and they are both compressed. Not a "brick wall" but plenty of chopped peaks. When all is said and done, I'm happy with the results I got from this pressing and prefer it to the CD's I own. I think Kinks fans will as well. Until someone does a proper repress or I win the Loto, save your money and grab this instead.
