Elvis Presley's 1971 holiday album Elvis Sings "The Wonderful World of Christmas" may not be as irresistible as his 1957 masterpiece Christmas Album, but it's nevertheless an enjoyable record. There are no surprises here, either in the selection of tunes ("O Come, All Ye Faithful", "The First Noel", "Winter Wonderland", "Merry Christmas, Baby") or in its soul and country-inflected pop arrangements, but it's a solid record that will please Elvis fans.

Elvis Sings the Wonderful World of Christmas is the King of Rock & Roll giving it the old ho-ho-ho for his fans, circa 1971. As can be expected of later Elvis, he's at his best when he slows down and lets the profound nuance of his voice wrap itself around the material. "The First Noel", "Silver Bells", "Blue Christmas", and "It Won't Seem Like Christmas (Without You)" are among the highlights. At 12 tracks, it's also more generous than many of the repackages where albums were trimmed to eight or nine songs.
