"Live at Pompeii" is a live album and film by David Gilmour, the former guitarist of Pink Floyd. It was recorded at the Pompeii Amphitheatre and was the first public performance at the venue since AD 79. It documents his 2015-16 world tour to promote his album, Rattle That Lock (2015). Also includes Blu-Ray's bonus material - "South America December 2015" & "Wroclaw 2016 (With The NFM Wroclaw Philharmonic Orchestra)".
David Gilmour‘s historic return to Pompeii for a pair of live dates in 2016 will make its way to home audiences later this year with the CD/DVD/Blu-ray release of the Pink Floyd veteran’s latest concert recording, Live at Pompeii.
In 2015 David Gilmour set out to play a series of concerts in historic venues across the world. The following year he became the first performer to play the amphitheater in Pompeii in front of a live audience since the gladiators in 79AD,” explains a press release quote from Gilmour’s wife and frequent collaborator, Polly Samson. “It was a return to Pompeii for David, having first performed there in 1971 for Adrian Maben’s legendary concert film, Pink Floyd Live at Pompeii. In Roman times the Pompeii amphitheater was known as a ‘Spectaculum’ and David worked with longtime collaborator and maestro of color and light Marc Brickman to bring the spectacle back to the Spectaculum.
