“Ephemeral Memory” marks the debut album from hip-hop producer, composer and multi-instrumentalist Braths – also known as Thomas Horeczko – on Sony Music. Best known for his work with some of Europe’s most successful hip-hop artists such as Apache 207, reezy, Nimo, Olexesh, Chapo102 and Ezhel, Braths now presents his own instrumental compositions. The album blends solo piano miniatures with layered string textures and melancholic orchestral arrangements to create a distinctive, atmospheric sound world. Many of the instruments were performed by Braths himself, with special guest appearances from violinist Esther Abrami and the ORF Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra. Born in Paris in 1998 to a Sudanese mother – a cellist – and a Ukrainian father – a composer – “Ephemeral Memory” is Braths’ homage to his family history and ancestry. The album explores the migration experiences of his own family and the lingering memories and complex emotions that endure across generations. Themes such as slavery and the struggle to transcend borders and national identities also resonate throughout the work.
