Mélusine is a French folk group founded in 1972 by Jean-François Dutertre (vocals, spruce Vosges …), Jean-Loup Baly (vocals, accordion …) and Yvon Guilcher (vocals, bagpipes …) , joined later by Jacques Mayoud (vocals, violin, rebec …), former member of La Bamboche.
The repertoire of songs and tunes Melusine mixes pieces collected from traditional musicians in some works of the Middle Ages. The group has also composed some songs for a musical interest real lap times slightly "gaguesque." The interpretation and arrangements, although very free, stand close to the tradition, not the letter but in the spirit (unlike their main "competitor" Malice).
In his latest opus, Voice Contrevoix, the group focused on the only polyphonic vocal work. This direction is more sensitive in its recent reformation during some concerts.
