Katchen's awesome fingerwork cuts through the Rachmaninov Second Concerto's notey labyrinths like Drano tearing through a clogged sink. Solti's scorching, whiplash accompaniment has a galvanizing effect on the London Symphony musicians, who play their collective tuchus off.
