About the Recording
Musically and sonically, this is the pinnacle of Klemmer's smooth jazz output. On a purely emotional level, the music never fails to satisfy. Klemmer says pure emotion is what inspired the album's creation and whatever he tapped into to find that source of inspiration, he really hit pay dirt. It's the heaviest "lightweight" jazz ever recorded!
This is one of the BEST SOUNDING MOFIs. The high end of this record is amazingly extended, open and sweet. MOFI was famous for demonstrating on an actual scope that the standard domestic ABC pressing had nothing above something in the range of 8 or 10 thousand cycles. Which is why they all sound dull and dead. There's plenty of information above 15kHz I would guess on this record – all those delicate percussion instruments ring so sweetly, they have to be going way up there. (This album would probably make a good test to see how well your tweeters work).
