    The old-school hip-hop hip-hop groove called Chlorine Free's Quest features lyrics from Free Speech, their third opus, between anthem and call to take charge of their destiny. Before that, there was a first album that gave a touch of electro fee to this jazz funk; then a second LP that earned the band official recognition as a worthy heir to Herbie Hancock's Headhunters. Free Speech takes the paths of hip hop.

    The verb is carried high by distinguished guests, from Mike Ladd to the very prominent Soweto Kinch, saxophonist and talented rapper, via Mobydick or Nya, who already appeared on Le Fish, the previous album. In Free Speech, it's as if their wild nature of jazz funk has recolonized the urban rhymes of rappers, on a relentless electro-breakbeat tempo. The lyrics are intertwined with flute phrasing, lush Rhodes piano chorus and persistent trombone riffs.

    If the productions of Booster, whose leg is still identifiable, and the spirit of Magic Malik in "Loop in release" are present, the group's personality is revealed over the albums, in a universe that is both coherent and without taboos. The bass ornaments of "Elsa", the trombone chorus that interferes first as the complaint of a trumpet in "lost dreams" before taking shape, and the contrapuntal subtleties of the piano to conclude these 17 tracks with " JH "are all nuggets that we rediscover with the same wonder with each new listening.

    Here is an album that cleans your ears without chlorine product, with a music that combines Jazz 70's, Hip Hop and epileptic rhythms of the electro version Warp.
