This is the story of Cinderella, of course, but also the story of Beauty And The Beast. In La Cenerentola, the fairy tales feed the story, although no fairy element remains. No glass slipper, no good fairy, no coach… However, it is the true Cinderella, whom her stepfather ignores, and her stepsisters despise. She spends her time cleaning up the house in which she barely lives, and hopes one day she can escape through a love which would go beyond social status. Angelina's dream is not vain because, just as in Beauty And The Beast, the beauty of the heart is the first virtue, and the only one which can be victorious. Luckily, as ever in the opera buffa, the good wins over the bad.

Vladimir Jurowski and Sir Peter Hall are reunited for a fresh and vibrant but timelessly elegant production of Rossini's much-loved setting of the Cinderella story, with a fine cast led by Ruxandra Donose in the title role. Filmed with high definition cameras and recorded in multi-track sound, mixed to sparkling stereo and 5.1 surround sound.
