BBC One Coverage: Germany v Poland: Gary Lineker introduces live coverage of the Group B encounter in Klagenfurt between pre-tournament favourites Germany and neighbouring Poland. Germany are re-established as a leading football nation since finishing third on home soil at the 2006 World Cup. However, despite winning the European title a record three times, they've not won a match in the tournament since lifting the trophy in 1996. Coach Joachim Loew has ensured a smooth transition since replacing Jurgen Klinsmann after the World Cup, and can call on the experience of Jens Lehmann, Chelsea's Michael Ballack and prolific Bayern Munich forward Miroslav Klose. But it's half-Spanish striker Mario Gomez who could prove the ace in their pack after averaging nearly a goal a game for Stuttgart this season.
Poland are competing in their first ever European Championship, having won a qualifying group that included Portugal. Nine-goal striker Euzebiusz Smolarek was their star man, while Dutch coach Leo Beenhakker has previously managed his home nation and Trinidad and Tobago in the World Cup finals.
