Depuis l'enfance Albert Dehousse a toujours rêvé de devenir un héros. En 1944, il décide, pour les derniers mois d'une guerre qu'il n'a pas faite, de quitter son Nord natal et de partir à Paris. Installé dans la capitale, il consacre tout son temps à collecter des informations sur la résistance. Il se fait ainsi passer pour un lieutenant résistant auprès de son logeur, ce qui lui évite entre autres le paiement du loyer. Peu à peu, la période étant propice aux rencontres, son culot et ses mensonges lui permettront d'infiltrer et de berner les plus hautes sphères de l'armée.
